This is Councilman Gebhart’s own letter, published in the Warwick Beacon, about the Cedar Hill Elementary PTO’s Fun Run fundraiser and a call for residents to reach out to their local elementary school and ask how they can help.
To the Editor,
People are expressing concern that divisiveness is dramatically increasing in our country. Over the next several months I’d like to share possible ways to make sure the feeling of community flourishes in Warwick.
It seems appropriate in this Halloween season to think of the systems that support goodwill and caring in Warwick as like a spiderweb, with strands interlocking with each other, getting stronger as each strand is fortified by the others.
Last week the Cedar Hill Elementary School PTO held its annual Fun Run, raising funds to provide learning-based field trips for each of the classes in the school. Every Cedar Hill child benefits from this exposure to new experiences.
The PTO works throughout the year to make the field trips a reality, raising funds and researching possibilities to enhance the lives of our children. The City of Warwick has several elementary schools. Reach out to your local school and ask how you could help enrich the lives of our community’s young students as they continue on their paths of life-long learning.
Warwick is a great place to live. So many residents eagerly do good deeds that help keep the community alive and well. The times call us to double down on nurturing possibilities for the future of our community.
